I'm getting on-line advertisements for a little device which is claimed to be able to charge phones.
You turn a handle and I guess it works like a dynamo on a bike.
Any thoughts?
The original technology was the idea of the late Trevor Bayliss. He designed a wind-up radio for use in Third-World countries and the same idea is used in other applications including 'phone chargers.
Emergency chargers (of whatever type) are useful if you're often running your phone battery flat. (Personally, I'm quite organised and have never run out of power -yet).
However, to be of any use, you'd need to have it with you all the time when away from mains power.
