But saw a man fishing in my local park yesterday
Also kids on swings, sunbathers, and teens on the skate park that we have.
And dog walkers, joggers and cyclists etc
*ALL* off them distancing. No-one close.
WHAT is wrong with that?
Why are people so scared and paranoid?
And now we have Boris telling us to go out anyway.

Humans need to be outdoors, need vit C etc.
What a carry on,,,

I know a 71 year old lady who couldn't stay in, she has to walk her two dogs and she has to shop as her only daughter lives miles away. Life didn't really change too much for her and she hasn't been worried or nervous about going out. She just gets on with it, in her words.
THanks, NJ - yes, now that we'll all be allowed out more from Wednesday (13th May), perhaps people will be less restless and will last past the beginning of June.
//...NJ, didn't you tell me the idea of people being confined to their homes was "ridiculous" at the beginning of March?//

Possibly. If not I should have done. Nobody has been "confined to their homes" and what is more ridiculous than suggesting they should be is suggesting such a measure can be enforced. Some may have chosen to remain so but nobody has been forcibly confined. Had I been I would have been dead by now (or at least suffering from severe malnutrition) and I don't for one minute imagine I am alone.
jourdain, fantastic. Lovely post regards your granddaughter ( well done to her) ... & you for guiding her!!
NJ, so why have the police been giving people fines for being out of their homes?
//NJ, so why have the police been giving people fines for being out of their homes?//

For having left home without a "reasonable excuse":

=========
The Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) Regulations 2020

Restrictions on movement
6.—(1) During the emergency period, no person may leave the place where they are living without reasonable excuse.
=========
It then goes on to provide a non-exhaustive list of "reasonable excuses" (such as going to the shops for basic essentials, going to the doctors, taking exercise, etc.).

As I said in March when people believed they were to be "confined to their homes", that is utterly ridiculous.
I first thought that this Op was about illegal Carp poaching by an illegal Eastern European who may be fishing out of season with no
(d)Angling permit !
eleanor2 - well, object achieved and a very thrilled 9-yr.-old! Felt a bit naughty driving along an almost deserted A64 and - believe it or not - the usual speed camera vans were there! I suppose some people were taking advantage. I was very virtuous, I assure you. :)

I think it has been forgotten that we are not stupid. I know that as older people we are more vulnerable - but there were no risks involved at all. We will make our own decisions, thanks. Anyway, I'm glad you understood. Just ordering a much desired present for grandson's birthday - conditional on him replying to letters I am sending him in legible handwriting! GRANDKIDS!
