Long-Active Threads - A New Innovation?

Has anyone else noticed that some threads are now running for far longer than they would normally? Usually, once off the front page, in the main, threads tend to die a natural death. These days, however, some, particularly those that don’t involve Coronavirus, go on for pages and still attract new posts. We have one posted in TV on 26 April that’s almost at the bottom of page 2 - and it’s still going strong.

Do you think it’s because posters are thoroughly fed up with multiple threads on Coronavirus and take advantage of anything else that provides variety?

More please!

no I think it's because they come up on the latest posts
Yes Naomi, I do,I’ve tried myself to detract from the subject with not much joy, I like taking part in the news if it is news but a lot of the time it’s covering old ground
But someone has to post in them for them to come up in recent threads.

I think the prevalence of CV threads is a factor. I also think it’s infrequent members looking in the categories they’re most interested in.
It's probably a combination of reasons, more people at home with more time to fill plus we do sometimes get some very entertaining topics to chat about.
Is it more likely to be that people in lock down are bored and so spend more time on AnswerBank ?
Also having certain posters on a thread more or less guarantees that it will be long and drawn out.
Like moths to a flame Danny?
More like sharks to a feeding-frenzy, Bobbisox.
I should start a thread in R & S, long overdue, but I'm frightened :-(
Well I did, and it hit three figures.
Got the scars to prove it :-)
Have a medal ;-)
I am finding that the longest threads ,recently, are usually generated by trolls . They seem to have an erroneous assumption that the more replies the more successful they are personally.Usually accusations of fishing or trolling appear quite early in the proceedings due to the deliberate controversial or inflammatory nature of the OP. I prefer short and to the point rather than the constant competition to have the last word which drags the thread further and further between the usual two/three gladiators.I choose to ignore them these days. That's my opinion for what it's worth. :-)
Retrocop - Yes, having the last word is always bait.
I for one need to learn.
