The moon landing was a hoax so there isn't really anything up there. which would probably explain why no one has taken photos or at least I don't think they have. well, that's my opinion anyway.
Does that mean the moon could still be made from blue cheese then ?
If you think of all the discussions of weither or not you could see the Great Wall of China from space, let alone from the moon. What do you think the chances of see the legs of an eagle on the moon are ?
Question Author
Jenny... well, considering the discussions are about if you can see the great wall of china from the moon with the naked eye (allegedly)... and we have some of the most powerful telescopes ever in existance on earth which can see trillions of light years away... i figured we might be able to see a car on the moon. ;o) just wondered if any photos were in existance first... but secondly, if it was actually possible...
Even with the most powerful telescope we are only junst unable to resove something as small as the moon landers. Perhaps in another ten years?
Sorry spanky. I apologize, I was being flippant, you see I didn't think eagles lived on the moon.
Question Author
i thought the lander was call the 'Eagle'?... you know... "the eagle has landed" and all that... ?
Taking photos from earth of stuff left by us on the moon would be like photographing a person from a distance of six miles and expecting to be able to see every individual strand of hair.
Question Author
'they' can take a pic of a 5 pence coin on the floor from a satellite orbiting the earth... 6 miles for a hair is nothing...
Ahhhh that explains the eagles if theres hares on moon aswell.
OK, yes I was board, but I have worked it out.

The resolving power of a telescope can be represernted as an angle. one vertex is the lense and the object makes up the opposite side. To resolve 5p from geostaionary orbit (new 5p that is!) you need to be able to resolve over 2.9x10-6 degrees, to resolve the Eagle lander you need to be able to resolve 0.6x10-6 degrees.

hope that answers all the questions and comparisons folks.

Now I can sleep.
Not quite a photo, but I believe mirrors (well actually prisms) were left on the surface of the moon by Apollo astronauts. It is supposedly possible for anyone, pocessing suitable equipment, to reflect a laser back to Earth using these prisms.
