Just been viewing a bee hovering like a hover fly would. Looks like a miner bee

yes they do hover,my lawn was alive with them a few years ago.
All bees can hover.
I saw plenty, hovering over my lawn yesterday.
Aerodynamically, bees can't fly, but nobody has told them that, so they fly anyway.
I only learnt about the waggle dance a few years ago, but it has made honey bees more fascinating since. A bit ashamed really as I should know more about nature; I spend a lot of time hiking and could appreciate the countryside even more than I already do.

Is it a bee fly.
Looks like a small hummingbird moth
Could it have been a humming bird moth? I see lots in France, but this year I've seen one in London. They simply hang motionless to take nectar with a long thin tongue(or tube, I suppose) then magically dart to the next flower.
From the photo I'd say it's a humming bird moth.
