About 1 March I chatted with BT to change my bill to 500 minutes plan a month. They said they would do this within one hour per se.

I wanted this plan to see if my landline to mobile phone calls would be cheaper and also to a very infrequent call to Australia like once or twice a year.

I have just received my bill there and I am stumped to find that an ordinary call to my local friend here has cost me nearly £10 for an hour and other very expensive calls.

I can't get through on CHAT as they are too busy. Can anybody explain what has happened.

I kept a copy of the last CHAT - perhaps it would enlighten you for help.

"We have successfully added both the plan 500 minutes calls and International friends and family plan for you it will take 24 hours to get updated".

Have I been billed TWICE - like for the old bill and the new 500 minutes plan bill.

thanks for any help.

^^ forgot to mention that the bill usually for everything (old bill) is about £50 - this was £88.
Try the Chat in the evening, it might be less busy.
What does your bill say?
You really need to look at different plans from different providers...I'm with John Lewis Phone and Broadband and for less than £1 per day get unlimited broadband, and all phonecalls included (every day, 24/7 and all calls to mobiles)
Compare it with and old bill to see what the differences are.

Tony - there is so much to look at. I studied the bill a little bit more - they have said - your bill is different which I expected since I changed the Plan but not £40 of a difference.

I do think this Plan of 500 minutes a month does not incorporate the Broadband which is about £30 a month - so I am getting like two separate bills of the 500 minutes which is astronamical (sp) and then the added the £30 of Broadband. That's what I make of it. If that is true I will have to go back to my old bill. I'm never outta trouble me.

Ginge - wouldn't even know how to get onto other companies plans (I do need the CHAT facility).

Also I have so many aids (to the phone) ie lights emitting from the phones, loud sounds (both down and upstairs phone) to help me "hear" the phones.

Last time I changed to TalkTalk (many years ago) - everything went awry (think BT (since they own the line) had a part to play in this. Lights, noise, buzzes WOULDN'T work. So I can't afford to go to another company

I took a chance and rung BT and lucky I got talking to a Belfast person. She told me that they were in the wrong and are refunding me £50. She did say other things but they're unimportant - it is not always one gets Belfast operator and she did say things were hectic because of the virus.

Just an update.
Glad you got it sorted.
