Thanks everyone. He was the most obedient, intelligent animal companion one could wish for. We went to Scotland last summer and he did a 7 mile walk. He came up to me (very unsteadily) at the weekend and rested his head on my arm, looked into my eyes and I could almost hear him saying 'I've had enough, dad'.
