Hi I had a phone call from my Tesco insurance to tell me my insurance was over due and if I did not pay my insurance would be cancelled. Apparently they tried to take the renewal amount out of my account but my bank had issued a new card so the details were not the same as my last card. I was about to pay but decided to shop around and I found a much better deal with Halifax which I took out. I have received a letter from Tesco this morning saying if I do not contact them my policy would be cancelled and they may pass my details to a dept collector to claim the money outstanding. I pay annually so don’t owe them. What do you think this means. I have changed insurers before with no problem .... many thanks for any reply’s

i think it means you have to contact tesco and ask what they mean.
looks like you have auto renewal and didn't give notice that you wanted to not renew so they kept you on cover. how much later did you notify them after the renewal date?
It means that you agreed to 'automatic renewal' when you took out the policy last year. You should have had correspondence from them about a month before the insurance ran out, telling you how much it would be and outlining any changes to the policy. If you did not tell them that you wanted to cancel they will have renewed the policy and this is why they are chasing you for the money.

Did you get the notice before your insurance ran out?
out of interest who covered you in between the renewal date, and you finding out it was overdue?
Sounds like it was Tesco, and therefore you will owe them money
Always ring to cancel insurance when you do not wish to renew, even if the payment cannot be processed. That makes it a legit non renewal rather than an unpaid premium due.
Just contact them now, as they have asked, and cancel the insurance.
