Sad to hear that, RIP Christopher.
RIP Christopher, you leave a legacy to many.
Missed this earlier. Safe passage to the Undying Lands Sir. You truly enhanced your father's worlds.
His older brother was our parish priest - he married the present Mrs Hughes and I.
AH, just out of curiosity, how did you marry in a Roman Catholic church if your wife was a divorcee with children?

My wife's first marriage was annulled by The Pope, which means that, in the eyes of the Catholic Church, it never took place, so again the eyes of the Catholic Church, our marriage is the first for both of us.

I had to attend a couple of talks with Father T to ensure that any children we had would be brought up in the faith.

Father T had some furniture from his father's study in Oxford, which were shown on the Tolkien calendar he had on the wall.

He also had two black and white portraits of the professor on his mantel piece, and when I mentioned that I had read that the professor hated having his photo taken, and avoided it whenever possible, Father T advised that Lord Snowden had requested to take the pictures, so the professor felt it would be impolite to refuse.

Father T also recounted going with his father to the palace to see the professor receive a gong from the Queen.

The professor was slim and still had a full head of hair, whereas Father T had lost most of his, and what was left was white, and he was a little well-nourished, so he constantly had to tell the photographers that he was not the professor, it was the younger looking gentleman over there!
Annulled with children?
Most unusual A-H, but at least she’s now with her Mr Right eh?

Highly unusual, and very difficult, but yes, worth it for coming up for thirty-three years of happy marriage.
Good stuff Andy
We’re a year behind you
AH, that's why I specifically mentioned her children. Very odd indeed. Thanks for answering.

I'm not sure 'odd' is an adjective I would use!

It is unusual, and it is rare, but I don't know if that makes it 'odd'.

// Thanks for answering. //

You are most welcome.
AH, //I'm not sure 'odd' is an adjective I would use! //

In the circumstances it's one I would use - which is why I used it.
I appreciate that it fits with your careful and correct use of language, it just feels a little 'odd' to see it referring to a situation in which I am involved, but I do take your point, it is the correct word for your reaction.
RIP Christopher.
