Jesus Wept, is there nothing some people won't hijack to further their own agendas? Let's concentrate on the poor *** affected by the fires and the ecosystem being destroyed by it rather than trying to pin it on Muslims or furthering your climate denying rhetoric. Deal with who's to blame after the danger is past.

That seems a little far fetched to me.
How very interesting, Zacs. Think you'll find Australia is in the southern hemisphere. I wonder why, when you went agoogling to prove me wrong, you didn't tell us about the record temps in Autralia which is, after all, what we're talking about?
By the way, all your climate change fanatics and bought and paid for 'scientists' promised we'd have record low temps this winter, oops.
When everything comes together, both natural and man made causes the end result is devastating.

Back to the OP.

They need stringing up
You seriously think the weather systems in the SH operate independently to the NH? I think you need to educate yourself a bit before going ANY further with comments on climate change / global warming.

Well said ymf
This is not down to the Green halfwits. Are you seriously suggesting that

a) Greens are so dumb that they don't realise firebreaks are needed AND
b) Greens are so powerful - or the rest of the Aussie authorities are so dumb - that they can push these measures through?

No, that is not what happened. Greens have never been in power in Australia. For this to have happened, you'd have to be saying that ALL Aussies are dumb - which would be a bit harsh considering they're currently ablaze.

They're not dumb. They've been hit with an unfortunate set of circumstances.

For example, they've been unlucky with the wind. The Southern Annular Mode (aka Roaring Forties) is normally well south of Australia in the Southern Ocean, but this year it's further north and crossing parts of Australia.

So what's actually happened is that the fires that do start are bigger, because of the hotter and drier conditions, and the winds are stronger, so the embers get carried further, over traditional firebreaks, which means that more fires start and the process repeats.

Seriously Ed? You star out that word? That's ridiculous. (The word in question describes a clump of earth and rhymes with plods)
At least you got BA for it Mozz. Agree ridiculous to remove that word.
Except Moz we should understand the truth, calling people denyies because you dont agree and shutting down the conversation wont sort the problem, neither will shutting down the debate on the Muslim angle.

It is no doubt a mix of things but dont shut down the ones you dont like, raise arguments as to why you think it is wrong.
YMF, it's not a case of what I agree with or not (although climate change deniers make my head spin), it's just a matter of what is important, and what's important now is supporting those affected by this tragedy: the thousands who have been made homeless, those who have been injured and the families of those lost, not to mention the wildlife which has been decimated by the fires. eave the finger pointing until after the fires are under control.
I'll bide my time but it sh
