She pleaded guilty to the charge of the fact she was raped, which she wasn't, perjury it would be called, lucky to be given a suspended sentence IMO. She had consensual sex with someone then accused him of raping her.

but according the case there were others involved, not just one man, you can have consensual sex with one, but that doesn't give others the right to steam in..

To be fair, the court relied on a retraction statement which was given when no lawyer or translator was present. That is a violation of European human rights.

I believe the 'men' filmed what went on. It's possible she withdrew her claim after the police showed her the recording. Same reason she was charged. Of course I don't know but it seems a reasonable/likely explanation for what happened there. (and would happen here)

Spot on Spicerack. "IF" it was rape there would be plenty of evidence to convict the men.

Also it would be better for Cyprus if the men were tried and Cyprus showed that it would not put up with rapists coming to their country and committing crimes. People would feel safer and more tourists would go. This is the last thing that Cyprus wants.... therefore why did they let the men go, unless the film showed something different to what the woman originally said.

But who knows, I don't know and you don't know. Anything that we say is pure speculation.

The alleged rapists were Israelis.
Cyprus has recently signed up to a deal with Israel for gas pipelines which I am sure bears no relation to the 12 Israeli men being allowed to leave Cyprus untainted.

On the BBC news at 1pm, the mother was issuing a statement, unpixellated, same channel, 6pm news, she was pixellated. Seems odd.
