Marvel to unveil transgender superhero for a forthcoming film:-

whilst there's no shortage of Trans actors (105 actresses, 14 actors), I personally have only heard of one of them - Holly Woodlawn (as in "Holly Came from Miami FLA" in Lou Reed's Walk on the Wild Side) - and willing to bet few would be considered bankable box office names.

…...or is it OK for Trans characters to be played by bankable Non-Trans stars?

//I was debating whether or not to add "perceived" myself, ymb. Perhaps "perceived or actual" is the most neutral and accurate. //

but what would be the societal injustice in this case - a reluctance to portray a certain societal group, or using actors not of that group to portray them?
Marvel have long had both gay (Wiccan, Hulkling, Northstar, Iceman) and Asian (Jubilee, Psylocke (both of which have been in the X-Men franchise), Ms Marvel, Sunfire) plus Shang-Chi himself has been around for 45 years or so. Not to mention others who are disabled like Charles Xavier and Box (both wheelchair bound), Daredevil (blind) or Puck (dwarf). Representation is nothing new for Marvel Comics. (I'm sure DC Comics also have similar, but I'm not an expert on them, Marvel Comics I collected for 25 years)
