Last October I bought a new Hotpoint fridge/freezer. In April of this year it went belly up, apparently the compressor had gone. The engineer wrote it off and we were given a new one. Now the replacement seems to have developed the same kind of fault and it too has broken down grrr !!! If this one is also a write off and a replacement is offered do I have to accept the same make of appliance or can I ask to be provided with a different one as I no longer have any confidence in this manufacturer?
Thanks =o/ twaflooers

yes, ignore what they say and push for satisfaction!!!!!!!!!
in this situation you can demand a full refund on the original purchase price, have a credit note or a replacement article...the choice is yours, even if they try to fob you off with the 'company policy' stuff.

i know....i have been there!

Thanks to you both for your help. The company engineer is due out at some point on Friday so I'll see what he has to say then. I really don't want another of the same so will be contacting the company and asking for a refund.
Just to add, it would depend who it was replaced by, the shop or the manufacturer. If it was the shop then by all means try for alternative replacement or full/partial refund. If was replaced by manufacturer, then they can obv only give you one of their replacements, although you could then go for full/partial refund against them.
