I think that's what it's called. Had one about 30yrs ago at the hospital but was wondering if you needed one now, do they do it at the GP's surgery or can you do it yourself? If you can do it yourself, what would I need to buy?

But what do you do before being referred?
Question Author
Sqad I can't remember why I had it done but it wasn't under anaesthetic. I'd had an operation previously on my right nostril and when they put the tube up my nose for the wash out, he must have disturbed something and it started to bleed quite badly. so it couldn't be done. I'll never forget the look on the other patients faces in the waiting room when I came out with a big wad of gauze held to my nose, full of blood.
Barsel.....it WAS done under anaesthetic.....local anesthetic as i mentioned before......the nose was frozen with almost certainly cocaine .

Bobbi...one has to be referred by the GP to an ENT surgeon.

Sqad, I did say right at the beginning (I think that's what it's called). I will try this method first to see how I feel afterwards.
Question Author
I stand corrected Sqad, it was about 30yrs ago. :-)
Yes I understand that Sqad, I’m asking what tried and trusted method could one use till then?
If you are having the same problems that led you to hospital 30 tears ago then of course seek a referral.

Please disregard any misinformation I may have added.
In his OP Barsel wants to know, if he can repeat at home, the procedure that he had 30 years ago and that is what i have answered.
All the answers are totally inappropriate to the OP .
^ 30 years, sorry
Question Author
Sqad, first of all, I'm not a man, and secondly I did not say I wanted to repeat the procedure I had 30 yrs ago. I said I had what I thought was a sinus wash, but I can't remember the reason I had it. What I'm looking for is hopefully something that will clear out my nasal passages to make me feel better and I will try this method first before seeing my GP. Hopefully the problem I have isn't the same as the problem I had which required an operation.
