Cold and flu symptoms last 7-10 days. Cold and flu symptoms with "tablets" last 7-10 days but with less disability.

Mrs Tony gets hers free because flu would put her in hospital.
Same for me, TonyV
I've never had a flu jab, but you've all convinced me to do it! Its just £10 at the local pharmacy and I have tomorrow off, so thats settled it.
Yay
Sometimes I wonder if the symptoms are due to the disease or the body's reaction to it. If one relieves them with medication is one thwarting the body's ability to fight. If one has a blocked nose did the body cause it because it gives it an edge destroying the bacteria/virus and one's just given it a harder task in order to feel better ?
I've had the flu jab over the last couple of years and Little Tiggs gets the flu vaccine at school every year as well. Last time I had flu was over 10 years ago but I get a cold at least once a year.

In my experience cold and flu tablets reduce high temperatures and headaches etc.
I wonder the same, og. Particularly with fevers... your body resets it's "thermostat" higher to kill off pathogens... and if we reduce temperature with paracetamol, say, doesn't that allow the illness to continue longer?
I think we sometimes are fighting our own immune responses.
Does a fever have an advantageous effect on the resolution of an infection?
I have no idea.............neither do the majority of doctors or scientists.

What i do know is that you feel better when your temperature is lowered by tablets and that you could die with a high temperature.
