This thread is about meting out physical punishment and how it may impact on you as an adult.

There are some who see violence as a solution to all manner of daily irritations and annoyances.

That is worrying.
Imo, the only time violence is acceptable, is when your, or your family's life, is literally at risk at that point.
Absolutely, preservation and defence takes over.
Agree with sqad.
Surely the whole point of banning smacking is to create more like her ? Can't find any other valid aim.
Wonder if Boris was smacked as child ?, which he is still is , if not , he needs smacking NOW,
Old_Geezer Do you really believe that this little girl would not behave in this way if she was given a good smack?
gulliver1 Yes that's right, give him a good smack, that will solve everything.
She had to quit her job to look after her own child..things must be bad!!
I could never imagine assaulting my own Flesh & Blood. To hit a child is to admit defeat.
I should point out that my remark to gulliver1 was sarcastic. Don't want you to think I agree.
I think it may be a bit late, a stitch in time and all that, but with proper discipline she probably wouldn't have got so bad. Still, well worth a try.
So at what age do you think she should have been disciplined and how do you think she should have been disciplined? Do you not think there is something (medically) wrong with this little girl and that she may need help?
My daughter works in a nursery and I remarked on a nasty scratch on her neck. Apparently it was done deliberately by a 3 yr old who also told her she was a b*tch. You do have to wonder what on earth goes on in the home for a little child to think it's ok to do that.
Here's a thought for those who think violence against children is appropriate discipline.

Imagine the child was twice your size instead of the other way round. Would you still hit them?

It's bullying. Use your brain instead of your hands/fists.
