Car not displaying odometer mileage

On insurance policy i have declared a mileage of x miles per year , based on what i have done in the previous years , when the display was working

I make the same journeys each day to and from work and i know how how many miles that is
I do local weekend mileage on the weekends and the odd extra journeys during the year

Basically the mileage i do hasn't changed much from one year to the other

I have then added on an extra sum to get to the x the figure .

My question is - the insurer ask how many miles you do for the year

Would i need to prove that figure at any time ; with a functioning odometer reading display - or mileage recorded on an MOT certificate , for my insurance cover to be valid ?

//based on what i have done in the previous years//

Should be 'in the immediate previous years '
if it's digital display it will sometimes show up if you shine a torch on it.
Maybe a system reboot - or check youtube as you probably wont be the first with the problem.

Anyone

Do i need to be able to prove that figure at any time ; with a functioning odometer reading for my insurance cover to be valid ?

did you try looking at it with a torch?

The display screen is lit but no information is showing
so you didn't look with a torch
Question Author
ok , I'll look later with a torch

( i didn't , because the screen was lit - not dark )
