The age for retirement, was originally the same as life expectancy (1938- 60 years old for both). The only people who could expect to retire at all, were genuinely "elderly" (ie above average life expectancy). Life expectancy has gone up and up, but retirement age hasn't, and we have got to the point, where people are either in full-time education or retired,...

Re Woofgang at 14.42. I also am of an age when, if you were married, you paid 'Married Women's Contributions'. Then this stopped and we paid normal contributions - but that meant we had wasted YEARS towards our pensions. I was most certainly never warned that after that, things would change. I was fortunate and squeaked in by a few months. Changing the rules 3/4 of the way through is simply not fair. Men at least knew where they were - we were told differently, but that it was O.K.. Suddenly it wasn't. That's what's wrong.

As my post points out, this is nothing to do with 'equality' - it is to do with unfair treatment of women simply on the basis that they are women - where is the 'equality' in that?

their acronym is WASPI, the I oddly eenough stands for Innequality. It should be WASPE because presumably they want the inequality restored to 60/65 as was.
