What a sad miserable childhood this poor little *** will have because of his attention seeking TROB parents. These are cases that social services should be looking at.

Did the grandparents never babysit or ever see the mother bathing 'it' or changing the nappy? We have to refer to these cases as 'it'because apparently they are the third gender. Poor child will never be able to lead a normal life . The parents should be locked up in a mental asylum. Wait until it gets to school.

//the teachers will know, and direct said child to correct toilet, and explain accordingly, what will the parent do then, sue the school. //

Fender, teachers - and schools - are not allowed to do that.

I can understand parents not wanting stereotypical girls/boys toys etc...I just don't know for how long they can go without mentioning the gender.
There was a set of boy twins were one boy had his penis cut off ( circumcision went wrong) and was bought up as a girl he committed suicide in the end. But feminists and trans gender Islam still use him as an example of gender being a social conservative constuct.
Oh for goodness sake auto correct is a pain.

But feminists and transgender warriors still use him as an example of gender as a social construct.
//Referring to your baby as " them " sounds so incredibly impersonal and cold.//

It's also grammatically incorrect. "Them" is the object pronoun of the plural "they". It should not be used when a single identifiable individual is that object. Its only possible use when a single person may be involved is, for example "If anybody rings, tell them I'm out". If these parents say "This is my child. They are called Justin. I love them to bits" it sounds (and is) ridiculous.

If they want to refer to their child in gender neutral terms it should be "it". Not quite so nice, perhaps. But nor is referring to your child in gender neutral terms.
I wonder why the German for 'girl' is neutral?
Sorry, neuter!
"Child abuse"? No.

"Child abuse" is abusing children either with violence, sexual interference, neglect or active psychological trauma AFAIU.

When a child reaches an age where they're able to notice that there are two (main) physical differences and asks questions, balanced unprejudiced answers should be given IMO. There is nothing wrong with keeping schtum in the interim.

So there's my tuppence worth, disregarding the preordained nature of your question.
I don’t know about abuse.
More a case of the parents saying “look at us, aren’t we hip cool and trendy?”

Babies need praise and encouragement right from birth, and admonishment when older.
I don’t think expressions like “oh, you good thing” or “what a clever it you are” or “you naughty oojamaflip” has quite the same effect.

This sort of nonsense is likely to have a negative affect on the child.
There are some attention seeking weirdos around these days.
People like this should have their children removed and adopted into a normal loving family, not people with a point to prove (whatever that point is) That poor child will become very confused and im sure there will be times when playing with children before school age when comparisons are made and this subject will come up, either by the children or parents of other children. This is setting their child up for all sorts of mental issues!! They need locking up.
