Having worked in a nursery I can tell you that kids do start bullying at a very early age. It can be anything from snatching toys away, ignoring them, pinching or pushing when they think no-one is watching and all manner of other tricks.

Not abuse but largely unnecessary, especially to have kept it from Grandmother for as long as they did.

Stereotypes can be avoided without going to this extent and of course it won't last until the child goes to school.

The couple are idiots.

Children are either boys or girls. Over 99.999% of those children are perfectly happy with that. They are raised accordingly and develop and behave accordingly (i.e. one is different to the other).

Only in the less that 0.001% of cases does this present a problem and it can be dealt with as it arises. To "sheep deep" the entire population with a "gender neutral" approach is absolutely farcical.
