It is a blame game.
Cameron’s legacy is Brexit, and he is not happy about that. So he is going around blaming everyone else for the whole debacle. But he was Prime Minister when the country voted Leave - the buck stop with him.
No re-writing of history is going to change that.

He was a terrible Prime Minister presiding over huge cuts such as policing, which we are still suffering the consequences of.

The timing of the book was to coincide with the Conservative Party Conference, not to wreck Brexit. The book deal was signed in October 2016, and we should have been long out of the EU by now.
Cameron has just been very lucky that the long ago planned release date sees the faltering Johnson Premiership and Brexit endgame.

I read an extract of his book in Sunday Times Magazine. I came away feeling some sympathy for him, which I never thought I would. Perhaps I’m gullible, but I do think he feels real regret for the crock of wossname he’s landed us in.

I was also moved by what he wrote about his little boy who died.
