Not a day to soon IMO.
Eleanor Laing. She’s already a deputy speaker

It is not a fixed convention, but Speakers usually alternate between a Labour and a Conservative MP (Blair broke the convention). We seem to be ripping up the rule books at the moment, but I reckon the next Speaker will be from the Labour ranks.
I hope so. Can she still be deputy?
She’s the vice chair of the Westminster Parliamentary Rangers Supporters Club!
Wasn’t Michael Martin a Celtic man?
That would be balance of sorts ...
Laing supports the Eurosceptic-wing of the party.
Not sure that will go down well at the present time.
I see all the usual haters have to have their little gripe.
//If we replaced the Speakers Chair, with a Speakers Bed , then JRM could apply for the position//

If Moggy goes for the job, could we replace the chair with a Speaker's Guillotine?
I can remember many, many years ago John Bercow said he struggled to put food on the table. I wonder if it was due to his height and he could not reach.
//sad to see him go//

Why? He’s abused his position. Why would anyone admire that? He should have been thrown out.
Why are the rule books being ripped up at present though Gromit ?? We should have left the EU by now, but because of all the delaying tactics constantly foisted upon us by 'remainer' MP's, we are no nearer than we ever were! Poor Boris still has a mountain to climb.
