I'm going with family next week whilst they scatter a relatives ashes. One person said they were going to sing Now Is The Hour, rather than sing a hymn or say a prayer. Is this a good idea folks? What do you think? I just have my doubts if it's appropriate, but if they want to do it, then I'll go along with it.

I have been looking at hymns and songs that I would like at my funeral and I like some pretty weird songs, I can imagine my daughter saying "I am not having that played" lol but they mean something to me.

Thanks Chrissa. That could be very appropriate, as we are doing this on the Great Ormes' Head, Llandudno.

Bodeker, that's the point, isn't it? They mean something to you so that should be borne in mind.
Oh, so pleased you like it.
Whatever you decide on I’m sure it will be good.
I chose 'I'll be seeing you by Bing Crosby for my mother's goodbye song One of her favourites with such meaningful words. If that's what her son wants then it's suitable. A close relative, a keen angler had 'Gone fishing'. It meant a lot to his close family and friends.
yes it is
I can understand why you are not sure ( pressure to do the right thing: OK joke coming up: and where you live, smacking two turks over the heead and trying to steal their car is the right thing - hur hur hur - joke ! joke !)

sorry about the loss - if you have come this far, it has to be some time ago and time heals

and it is the right thing because
you have and action ( scattering) and words ( song-hymn) and they have more significance than that ( = ritual).

( at a marriage where I was best man, the groom mentioned I read the bible in Greek and the minister said - oh he can conduct part of the service if he wants. ( low church) - and I squealed that it was not appropriate I wasnt ordained, was a sinner, credit was bad and so on. And now twenty years later, I can see that, they wanted someone who knew his bible to get involved)

sing your loudest and celebrate his life !
I have dezeened my funeral and the lucky organiser said
"this is pretty morbid you know"

( Bradford and Bingley Brass band and so on)
