Called in at a charity shop a few weeks ago, Tuesday, spoke to manager, (they'd been advertising for volunteers)
Filled out a form, had pleasant chat, she asked me to call in at 11AM on the Friday for a more formal chat and for her to give me the layout of what's what.
Turned up only to be told she doesn't work a Friday and she'd phone me if she wanted me.

She might be the manager of a Charity Shop but I do not like liars or time-wasters. (the charity was the Salvation Army - name and shame)

Some very interesting looking books there, wolf. I should look at that site more often.

Good luck, alba. I can’t imagine why you were treated so badly.

not dis-heartened, there's loads more and a potential 2 tomorrow to attack :-))

I'm sure I've read somewhere Wolfie mentioning Oxfam's website and they don't seem to advertise it as much as they should.

There's also a couple of hospice shops, but I'll give them a try next week.
Alba, if the shops don’t need help contact the hospice directly. There are lots of things that volunteers can do. X

thanks Naomi, it's quite surprising the variety of things for volunteers, I don't think the variety is as widely known as it could be.
(it's late, my language skills are becoming dormant :-D )
