Hi all, I had a bit of a filling about 3 weeks ago, on very back tooth at bottom. A side piece of tooth broke off. Most of the tooth is filled. Dentist said, if any more breaks off, I'll have to have a crown. Now, do I pay the £260 for it, or have it extracted?. Which will cost nearly £60. What would you do?? Any advice please?..

I too have lost part of a tooth and wonder if the dentist could just fit half a crown

Teeth make babies suffer, and then later the grandparents.
What is the answer?

I don't know Theland. All I know, they are troublesome from the cradle to the grave. Even if you do look after your teeth very well through life, as you get older, the gums recede and teeth become loose and can fall out. Never mind though, keep smiling...
Lost two bottom front ones a few months ago.
Sometimes makes me lisp.
Never mind, I can now drink through a straw without opening my jaw.
Sounds funny though.

Awww.. lol!
What would I do?

I would follow my dentist's advice as only they have all the relevant clinical and radiographic information to give you a valid opinion.
J9PUR.....welcome....nice to see you posting again, your expert input has been badly missed.

from the voice of experience - back tooth - get it out - simple as.
Thanks Sqad.

I'm around from time to time but not always posting!
Ask if an inlay is appropriate.
I'd avoid having more serious work as long as possible.

OG, There's hardly any tooth left! It's all filling, all but a little bit of tooth on inside, which a few days ago, broke off! Well, most of it. Must ring Dentist tomorrow. Where it's broken off, it's very rough and is scratching side of tongue.
