Our Epson XP-235's carriage won't move for us to change the cartridges. In the past, we've just had to press 'stop' for 6 seconds and the carriage moves - now it doesn't move at all. I can turn it off at the wall to access the cartridges, but I need to get it to recognise non-Epson cartridges. To do this, in the past, I've removed the cartridge, turned it off at the wall, and turned it back on again, forcing the recognition. Now that it won't move automatically, I can't get it to recognise the new cartridge at all.
Any ideas?
Go into control panel - devices and printers - double click on the printer specified - adjust print options - and click on the maintenance tab - it might have an option to replace the ink cartridge in there - it does with my epson printer.
My old printer would listen to instructions from Control Panel > Maintenance, but unfortunately this one just gives text instructions to do what it won't respond to. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
I'll give it a go tomorrow and see if it was just in a huff, as suggested. The link you offered, Tony, looks interesting, but I'm not prepared to give my credit card details to a site I'm not sure about. Thanks again, though for your thoughts on this matter.
Sorry, Tony. I clicked on the link, went through a Q & A with a Technician's assistant, and then was asked to give my credit card details to pay the fee for the Expert to answer. I don't know what went wrong there.
Anyway, I'm pleased to report that it's working again now. It obviously needed the unplugged rest that you also suggested! Your time and advice have been gratefully received.
