Wrist Arthritis?

I am hypermobile but wondered whether my wrists are now getting plain arthritic? They hurt and I have to flick them to get them to crack before the pain stops. Also I have a computer chair with a lumber pump- I can do precisely 3 pumps before I get a sharp pain in my wrist and have to stop. Is this the start of inevitable decline?

Yes.....osteoarthritis is a wear and tear end result of either excessive use or an predisposing abnormality in the joint itself e.g old injury or in your case hypermobility.
Treat the pain with ibuprofen or something similar but if you think that it is getting worse, then see your GP.
Such a common thing, one might have hoped research would've found a way to stop it's progress, or reverse it by now. Maybe stem cell/gene therapy will find a way to regrow the worn bits without triggering something worse, in the future.
My sympathy!

I have similar pain in the base of my thumbs, and activities such as knitting and sewing, using kitchen knives are increasingly uncomfortable if not, at times, painful. If you google it, you find it's quite common and unfortunately there isn't a replacement available such as with the knee or hip.

I agree with Sqad - ibuprofen in the short term - or likely the doc will prescribe something like Naproxen plus a gastric tablet. It will give a few years relief, hopefully.
Another thing to try, is rethink how you do things, different angles, different gadgets perhaps, making a task into a 2 person effort (sometimes that's tough to concede!).

Best wishes.
Not a decline OG,simply an alignment. Garlic helps,so too does a good single malt (in moderation). As long as it's not 'Old Wheezer'! Happy New Year.
