An old soldier, guessing late Victorian, maybe a bit earlier, but no idea who or what he is. Here is the picture of him, in uniform. Any ideas?

he looks american?
I thought it was an American, as well, Woof.
Here is a US Marine Corps Officer from the 1920s - you can see how there's a similarity in the jacket.

If you look at the shako at the side, the badge appears to have the American bald eagle.
My pic is 1820s of course, sorry
Do you have to name him, BB?

Hello Tilly. No, he lives in a box of old photos, mostly Irish, mostly identifiable. Loads of ancestors did of course cross the Atlantic, but records are sketchy.

Good luck with your search.

Thanks for the links. Quite agree, looks extremely similar. At least now we can look at Confederate uniforms to see if we can find a match.

Wrong side, of course, but you’re stuck with your ancestors (if he WAS one!)
