Can I use polystyrene containers in the freezer?

It seems that scientists do:

And I've bought frozen fish packed in polystyrene. I'd say it would be excellent as it has great insulating properties.

You used to be able to get styrene boxes for keeping ice cream in, and as above labs use them so yes is the answer.

There are stronger types and different densities that will give better storage properties, esp. if you want to take goods out and keep them frozen/chilled.
