Thanks to everyone who took the time to reply to my posting on 17th July. I got some Sodium Chlorate and have started to use it and it is working a treat. Just got to get over a rotten dose of flu now and I'll get back to killing off the problem. Thanks once again to you all.

Did they tell you that using Sodium Chlorate will take a very long time before the soil can be used for growing and the weeds will tell you when this is. Catch 22 situation ?

tellboy - the weeds in question are overrunning my driveway and paths and do not affect the soil in the least. Thanks for your concern anyway.
