music file or document file

I have a friend who occcasionally sends me a music file via E-Mail. If the title of the file has an '&' in it it comes up as a document file.Why is this.
I am running Windows XP.

So long as they're sending it as an mp3 fine I can't really see a problem, except if you've turned off accepting attachments in your email program
