M8 Motorway Funnel

On the M8, between Glasgow and Edinburgh, there is a large metal funnel just off the toad but pointing towards it.

It looks rather like one of those old gramophone funnels/speakers; albeit many times larger.

It is on the west - bound side.

What is it for?

i know the thing you mean-i pass it every day!! lol i think its just a bit of art on the m8...there is the iron horse and the 3 head things...i think its just another arty thing....i could be very very wrong but thats what i have always assumed it is
