Just a quickie!About to buy a new blade, How many teeth is best on a Hand held circular saw when for general use. Blade diameter 185mm

12 for sawn timber, boards etc, sitework
24 would do a decent fine cut as well
40 for really fine

'General use' just doesn't cut it (no pun intended) nowadays.

But in the range of 18 - 30 teeth for 'general use' would be my choice, which falls nicely in with the post above.
More TPI --- smoother but slower cut... less TPI, more aggresive but rougher cut... I'd agree with Naz and TB, except up it to 25 to 34 TPI...
In terms of best performance, circular saws can be used to cut several materials. Some of the materials which it cut best are.
Hardwood lumber and softwood lumber
Plywood and Manufactured panels
Laminated flooring
Wood siding
