A couple of people were taken to hospital in Wiltshire last Saturday after being "exposed to a substance", according to the radio this morning. Wiltshire? Porton Down? Chemicals? Those Ruskies have got a lot to answer for! Anyway, the authorities couldn't release this news till now because they don't want to panic anyone; especially if you live in Wiltshire. Calm down, dears. It's only "a substance". Whatever that means.

10 miles away, and so long after the other incident. Doesn't sound like a decontamination failure to me. Sounds like a new contamination.
Novichok means ‘made in Russia’
This is probably a consequence of the original attack. As someone above said, there must have been a lot more of this stuff knocking around and it possible got dumped somewhere near and these people may have picked it up accidentally
Neveracrossword. It has now been CONFIRMED as Novichok by Porton Down. Previously it was just a possibility.
Ichkeria posted that @21.51, yes.
Was confirmed thus ich's post.

// People there must be quite unnerved by this.//

Hey Itch, havent you got your roots wrong
Novichok I was easily persuaded ( as Rooshan is Indo European )
is 'Newbie' being fromed from the root for new - novi and a vulgar diminutive - chok ( = liddle thang )

I still think it was dumped by the Scripal poisoners ( as if we dont know who they were hur hur hur ) and the amesbury couple took it home to er smoke or something
oh and thank you for posting this Clar'
it makes a change from the very usual .....

"Should this be allowed!" I saw a man who looked very dark at the end of the road - will be stab me in my bed shouting "Brexit is great?" I can hardly sleep....Free Tommeh!

The |Amesbury couple are sleeping well ....
I assume you’re joking PP :-)
‘Novichok’ means many things apart from the literal ‘little newbie’ : it also means ‘think again if you were planning to send David Davis to the World Cup final’ - on second thoughts ...
Peter, it was an unintentional pun - not a deliberate one.
Question Author
Some British govt official somewhere knows more than they are telling us. Probably a lot more. There's probably lots not to tell. Who says this stuff is only manufactured in Russia? The British Govt! Who said it was safe in Wiltshire? The British Govt! Who owns the secret weapons establishment at Porton Down? The British Govt! Is it safe? (Marathon Man)!
