Looking For Old Dance Song I heard in the 80's.

Im looking for an old dance song i heard in the 80's. The title I'm not sure of but the lyrics are like this, " My mama she told me, my mama mama told me," and do you wanna do a dance". I'd be grateful if anyone can enlighten me.

'My Mama Told Me' is, I think, by Bananarama.

It's actually a very old playground song, one of those where do all sorts of fancy clapping moves with a partner.

'Do You Wanna Dance' is an old Cliff Richard number.

im not sure if it was bananarama and it defs wasnt cliff richards but i do know he did a song called do you wanna dance. I know the song was quite fast though. Thankyou for replying though. I am most grateful.

Just looked at it again. It could possibly be something completely different - 'Ma Momma Done Tell Me' - a well-known blues number but I can't think for the life of me who recorded the original.

It defs not the bellestars and I looked on the net and it defs is not a jazz number. It was defs a dance track.

It defs has the lyrics in the chorus as do you wanna dance, do you wanna dance, do you wanna dance. Its a pity I couldnt hum the tune for you..... you might get it then. Thanks for trying to find it mate.

I have just found out that it also has these lyrics with it: "Lets do it, lets do it, lets do it together." I hope this can help anyone to help track this song down.

Hey Dom! The answer to your question is a band called Fantastique, they were a one hit wonder in the roughly 1982, the single was only released on 12inch vinyl which sadly I have to admit I have a copy of! Hope this helps.
