Converting a .dat file to MPEG or WAV.

Can anybody recommend a Free piece of software to convert a dat. file (VCD) to mpeg or WAV. I've found software which will but all require a payment, I'm not forking out �30 just to convert one file! Cheers

If it's a video file from a vcd it's already a mpeg. Just change the extension to mpg and it should play. The only operating system that I had trouble with was Win 2k. Or try this program which has a free trial and will do the job I think: http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html If you just want to extract the WAV, Virtual dub will do that and it's free. http://www.virtualdub.org/ Lots more info on this type of thing here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/
