Do the lorries which come into the UK from abroad have any checks as to their road worthiness? We saw on the tv that in Ireland they stop lorries and give them a thorough check, but wondered if all the lorries on our roads here have any kind of certificates of road worthiness. There seems to be so many accidents being reported involving lorries.

It's usually the driver's roadworthiness that's in question for most accidents.
