I don't use it much if at all but tonight I sent a message to a friend of a friend in Florida.

It was a personal message of the great time i had there some years back - she answered me via my email address. What I would like to know can anybody else read our messages between us - you know her contacts, friends and relatives etc. Thanks

If you don't use messenger, then yes.

If I knew your name, I can read all what you've posted on Facebook, but not messenger.
Sharon is right jj.
They can't read private messages. On my kindles I can only message people using messenger. I only use it if I'm away from home because every time someone messages me it pops up on screen. I disable it as soon as I'm home.
If she answered you via your email address do you mean it turned up in your inbox? If so then no one can see it.
If it showed up on your wall then anyone can see it.
