Today is the day of the referendum on the Republic of Ireland's abortion laws.

The vote will decide whether to repeal a part of the constitution, known as the Eighth Amendment, which effectively bans non-essential terminations in the country.

Polls opened at 07:00 local time and votes can be cast until 22:00 tonight (Friday).

I wonder how the Irish will vote?

I wish that NI would now follow sense but it will never happen just as it will never happen with gay marriage.
Times are a changing
:-)
Oh if only, Islay..... :-(

Changing fast in the republic, Patsy....so, so good....x
I know Gness I love NI but sometimes I despair at how backward it is.
The Secretary of State for NI could shake up our complacent politicians by proposing legislation that would bring us into line with the rest of the UK on matters like abortion and gay marriage.
Nothing will happen in NI in this parliament, as the DUP hold the balance of power if it came down to a vote.
If there was a vote in the U.K. parliament the NI abortion law would be changed, no matter Rees Mogg and the DUP.
There won’t be any vote in the NI assembly of course :-)
Thanks for that, Wolf......there's a nice bit of me would love to be heartened by that....

The cynical me who detests the Catholic Church from the Pope down to the Deacons hears Francis saying next....And God made paedophiles as they are .....so God loves them too.....
I just will never trust them....any of them and that goes for those in my own family who range from Bishops to Deacons....with the odd nun thrown in...x
with the odd nun thrown in...x

All nun's look odd to me.
All nuns are odd, Tony.....if you ever meet my daughter get her to tell you how I react if a nun comes near me....even if I can't see her.....
must be something left in me from the years of cruelty by nuns... :-)
