Is there definitely paper in the tray...?
You did take the cellophane covers off the print head didn't you? If not the ink couldn't get out :)

yes to both and thanks for any suggestions. Have scanned a note and that has printed so tried again to print from Word and also Photocopy and no joy
Check that in replacing the ink you didn't move the ones next door (assuming it's a colour printer). I think, from your description, I had a similar problem a while ago and pushing the inks back in sorted it.
Check that your Drivers are up to date. Try a Test Print
What does the handbook say about your problem?
Are you connected wirelessly? (via your router) If it will scan from the controls on the printer but is doing nothing when you try to print using any method from a pc or laptop then you have connectivity issues. Check in settings ( printer) whether it is still connected or try switching it off, waiting , then switching it back on. If you are wireless and have wps facility on your router, press the wps button on the hub and within 30 seconds, the wps button on the printer. They should then "find" each other.

Just back to try out all the tips and have redone the cartridges switched off and pressed the buttons and the printer is again working.
Big thank you to all
