I wish that I was more articulate so I could put my point over better so that it did not look like a moan,so here goes
On my weekly visit to an Edinburgh “care home “ I found after there meal 6 of the residents were put in a television room with the volume loud all were dementia sufferers and could not remember what they had for lunch so with Jeremy Kyle blaring and some staring into space it was not a nice place to be and 3 of the staff chatting with each other in the corridor, this is the second care home I have experienced and the other was the same,so what I would like to say unless it is really necessary keep your loved ones away from the so called care homes

Hi gness. is this an Avery care home? Sounds just like the one my Mum was in. It was brilliant and they had so many activities every week. Daily sing songs. The off duty staff all came to mum's funeral and laid on a free buffet afterwards. Took us months to find the right one. Xxx
I've sung in several really lovely ones. They aren't all bad.
No, Mazie, it's not. The chap in charge was so miffed at the homes he was looking at when he had to arrange care for his Dad he thought he could do it better....and he has.
He has given us what he wanted for his folk and that's why it's so good....x
I am a regular visitor to a care home run by The Order of St. John Care Trust and am really impressed...it is a lovely place. One important difference from many care homes is that it is not a money-making enterprise....any "profit" made is ploughed back into the charitable trust.
