Most likely a belt that is loose, and slipping until it warms up a bit

is the noise only there for a second after u start the engine it could be the belt but vws are prone to lazy starters, they stay open for that bit longer than they should. if it is this u can take the starter out and give a wee spray of spray grease or similar, saves buying a new one
