Just been reading that the animal belonging to the Russian victims have died. Sad in itself but horrible to read that the guinea pigs died through lack of water while the house was sealed and that the cat was found in an "extremely malnourished condition" by the time a vet could gain access and was put to sleep. Of course they couldn't put human life at risk but that seems so cruel.

It is cruel horselady and wrong. If the powers that be knew there were animals in the house, they SHOULD have been taken out straightaway. I wonder how the girl will react when she hears about her pets. Shocking.
Given that the authorities didn't know exactly what they were dealing with then I think they did the right thing, sad as it is.
I personally wouldn't have wanted any human being to put themselves at risk of chemical or other poisoning to rescue a cat or guinnea pig or any other animal.
I would think the girl will just be glad to be alive and will understand.
@hereiam...yes u are eight, it's cruel and should have been thought about, horrific things go on when things like this happen....but should have never have been with the poor innocent animals ..poor little souls. X
Concerns should be put in writing and sent to

V. Putin
The Kremlin
Moscow
That's the UK's fault not Russia and I find it sickeningly outrageous. There are certainly protective clothing they could have used to enter the house - even if there was risk the animals were contaminated at least they could have been put down humanely.
To allow guinea pigs to die from lack of water is truly horrible, never mind the cat.
OK...they open the door, the cat runs out and disappears into the town of Salisbury probably or possibly contaminated with deadly nerve poison...........nice move.
No, unfortunate as was the outcome, what was inside should have remained inside until de-contamination was established.
One hesitates to say that it could easily have been the catalyst for a disaster.
LOL^^^
This country is pathetic.
