Am I correct in noticing that most of the 'well known' ABers are not contributing so often to the debates just recently?

Many moons ago I used to venture into news, religion, etc. It was like going to speakers corner no one listening just pouring out what they wanted to say without consideration and quite often with poor evidence. TBH I have at times had more meaningful experiences in CB. Less often these days but mostly the crowd there are likely to discuss subjects with humour and sometimes compassion. I have never felt it worth debating with a stone wall, or with those who are so deeply entrenched they can't see reality from their position.
For those who love a good argument I am sure recent losses have diminished your experience in your favourite place, give it time someone else is likely to trundle along soon.

/// No thread on Salisbury - hulloooo the russians tried to nerve gas someone there and two others - and not a squeak about interning all Russians as terroristen ///

Allegedly Peter, allegedly, even our Government haven't yet put the blame squarely at Russia's door.
// Nicely phrased Jack.// see above

Jark, Jark, do you hear de bells Jark ?
( Klute)

Klute is auditioning by doing Joan's part in St Joan ( GBS) in an Irish accent. She doesnt get the part

sozza some contributions can be more au point than others
// Allegedly Peter, allegedly, even our Government haven't yet put the blame squarely at Russia's door.//

well I can have an opinion - I note in contrast that with the ongoing bomb trial no one is using the word 'allegedly'

and salisbury - they didnt DO anything for 48h
( " we are not sure there has been a crime" ) whilst 20-30 people attended cas and said they felt whoozy
Mine was typed in a Bolton accent - I wouldn't have got the part either.
Regarding “Salisbury”
Without proof how can we blame Putin? He was a double agent who put Russian and uk agents heads on the block so he had many enemies also with upcoming elections this could easily be a smokescreen for us to blame Putin or are you that blinkered and easily manipulated by the media?

This is why I use other social media platforms and not just here to open my eyes and not become one of the herds of “sheeple” like many are.

My posts have dropped from an average of 18+ a day to roundabout 5,
Mainly due to the increasing resemblance of AB to FB and Mumsnet, it's not a good move imo.

Not the op, PP

Yet another FAO Thread popped up, FB here we come.
I, too, second Kidas's post @14.22. The same entrenched views expressed in the same puerile manner/language make the "debates" akin to a schoolyard argument...
If *Ad which shall not be named* isn't solved soon, I'll be gone for good too !!! Although I know I'm not one of the 'well known' ones.
I agree with Kidas @ 14.22

The problem with the News section is that it has largely been taken over by bullies.
I have no idea if I count as "well-known" or not, but yeah -- I've been making a conscious effort to stay out of the news section of AB this year. Just stopped being "fun" to participate in the debates, such as they were, that happened there.
Not just news....the whole site now for the reasons Kidas and Rowan give.... :-(
I am somewhat diminished.
