I went to an Ed Byrne show on Saturday and had a complete ball, on the stage beside him was a lady do sign language for several of the 'guests'.
Ed was brilliant he included her in the routine and even got her to show us what the sign language was for swear words.
I have to say there were parts of the show where I was listening to what Ed was saying but watching the lady to see how she would 'translate' this. Some of it was very funny!!
So I know there was a thread a few weeks ago as to if this was necessary - well yes it is - I enjoyed it as much as the deaf patrons!
So well done Ed and colleague.

It's great you enjoyed the night Islay, I like that they have the interpreters now, my friend's hubby is deaf and used to miss out on so much because most things like Ed Byrne and the likes didn't have a ISL interpreter on stage with them. He can now go to the local theatre and the like and have a great night with her and they can enjoy the rest of the night without feeling one has missed out on the main part

Its was lovely ducksie and to include in the show rather than her being an add on was lovely - a real gent of a thing to do.
It sure was, he's a grand chap is Ed Byrne - I've not seen him on show in years, he used to come down here for the Cat's Laugh comedy festival but not seen him in a long time, my sis loved him - I was her drag along but i loved it
Good to see the deaf being included
being deaf is terribly socially isolating ...

ISL ? BSL surely ?
There is such, I didn't know either, - though he was in Hove (I think) so you're probably right Peter re Islay's night out.

I think it's great when the signers are part of the show too.
It would annoy the hell out of me.
I saw Jo Brand do the same - it really added to the show The lady who was signing was in stitches
Another bonus then ...
@spicerack obviously
That's a shame Spicerack, as we become ever more inclusive of those with disabilities it will become more prevalent.
