Does anyone else's cat's step over their bare skin (legs or body) yet will happily step on the same bits when clothed? I've noticed this more recently being summer and my cat always steps over my legs when I'm wearing shorts but will happily tread all over me when in trousers. Same with a bare chest if she jumps up on the bed. I know it's not just me who's noticed this. So does anyone know why? I presume it must feel funny or something.

I think puss is being kind to you. It knows how much we dislike being scratched and knows that we humans lack the natural furry protection that they enjoy., They know how clothes protect us and so avoid the bare bits.

My puss worked this out from being a very small kitten, and even now "asks permission" to come onto my bare bits. When he does he is very careful about velvet paws.
My cats all do the same.
... bu they're all dead now :o(
