Piercings and tattoos are horrible. But that's just my personal opinion.

And let us not forget Plod use these things to identify you so if you have a mind to criminality then probably not a good idea.

Apart from the almost mandatory ACAB of course.

Pasta...as there seems to a tradition for piercing the ears of small babies in your family, why do you think it should be done ?

The baby isn't going to be aware of it, apart from the initial pain and the on-going discomfit, so if it isn't to please the vanity of the parents, what other use would it serve ?
im still baffled why anyone would want to pierce their tongue let alone intimate areas, the word pierce sounds bad enough, beautification mmm...tongue gentials errr just weird, as for age not sure, because they might get a friend to do it for them and that could turn out very badly for them etc.

Fender......maybe its because they are daft ?
I haven't read the all the answers yet, but as it isn't going to be compulsory- it just depends what age people can make their own decisions. Personal opinions on whether it looks good or not are irrelevant. I would say 16- for everything.
A 16 year old can't.
Get married without consent
Get deployed in the army
Stand for election
Leave education/training
Watch some films
Buy Alcohol/cigarettes
Take out a loan/credit card
Buy a house
Use a sunbed
Drive a car
Get sent to prison
Have an intimate or tongue piercing

But they can vote, work that one out.

Dave.
I think I made that very point last week when the voting age question came up. Absolutely ridiculous. I really don't know how the WA can manage to keep a straight face having put forward these two proposals within a few days.
why am I the only one to read acts of parliament ?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tattooing_of_Minors_Act_1969

Sqad's old consultant was quite right
why am I the only one to re-read old copies of JAMA? and here we have from JAMA 1928
"The literature of the last half of the nineteenth century contains many reports of syphilitic infection implanted during tattooing, sometimes in epidemic form, as brought out by Maury and Dulles."

Tattooing of minors was stopped because of an uncontrollable epidemic of Hep B in male teenagers - as a public health measure. I remember it well.
It workeed. Now used in a generation of med students public health essays on legislation as a way to control public health

a bit different to everyone's else's posts
but what the hell ?
Jackthehat 'Ah!
Another thread for the judgemental curmudgeons to exhibit their disdain for the plebs.'

Too right, jack. Let's hope none of those Grid Girls have any piercings or tatts.

We seem to come a long way from the central issue of preventing children from being mutilated !
But these same children will have had the vote for two years, Mikey!

Old enough to vote, but not old enough to have their tongue pierced. Quite honestly I don't want children who are not old enough to decide whether to have a tongue piercing having a vote.

///It will be still the case that people can't buy drinks in a Pub until the age of 18, after any change to voting///

Nothing to stop them buying non-alcoholic drinks that I'm aware off.
Damn Welsh, they'll be banning relations with sheep next.
Apart from the core of folks that have always done this, I think it's just a fashion fad that will pass, just like the crewcut - I just hope that lip plates and nose bones don't catch on before this happens...
Mikey at 8.48pm.

Continuing to swerve facing the discrepancy I see.
