also, i sort of agree with islay. This woman and her friend who "supplied" her are abusing the NHS
Islay, is receiving prescription drugs "without entitlement" a crime? Is smuggling something out of a country a crime? She's already paid for that in the country she took them into, as is the usual procedure. Do you really think she should be punished twice for the same crime?
Hardly paid has she!! She has been let off with a severe crime.
Whilst I can't find any info on of the smuggling out of the UK holds any criminal status - obtaining prescription class drugs by deception may do.
She and her family claim she did nothing wrong - she will now do a whole raft of interviews about how wronged she was.
She should have to spend time locked up here and not allowed to profit from her crime!
there's no evidence that she deceived anyone in this country; she was given the pills (which are legal here). She's been behind bars since October. You still want more from her?
the way i see it. it's no different to other people using NHS services which they are not entitled. those people do not get put in prison, but get fined.
....or not, usually!
what NHS service did she use?
// the 'fame' one of the Peru Two has got perhaps you can see why. Even if they get caught the fame is good for them. You can profit from crtime these days it appears.//

utter tosh from one of the usual suspects

The peru two - can anyone name them - are not famous. The wigan bun of one IS - as it screams GUILTY guilty guilty apparently - and they were mules

This one ( bamma-lamma dol lady ) was taking tramadol for a friend. - and as soon as she said that, she had damned herself as it would be not be for personal use.
Tramadol is a drug of recreational use in Egypt - has anyone tried it ( for pain?) you puke everywhere constantly.

The husband has been told - but the emabssy and consul in Cairo hasnt .... oops watch this space
Husband: Friday is a day or rest in Egypt and then the govt kicks into action Saturday....

Excuse me ? Has anyone beside myself been to the Mugama ? ( sort of Egyptian Home Office )
// what NHS service did she use?//

well she would have had to have got a prescription - which would be available privately....
but then the patient is not in front of the doctor and he is NOT allowed to prescribe under these circumstances - unless she says it is for herself....

The thing that screwed her was saying " it is not for me - it is for my friend Madge who lives down the wadi..."
I don't know that she had a prescription: she said she'd just been given the pills by a colleague. The authorities are still looking into it.

It's not evident that she's done anything wrong in Britain at all.
then it's the colleague who needs fining
//It's not evident that she's done anything wrong in Britain at all.//

in possession of opioids without a prescription or reason to have them and intends to pass them on
that is supplying innit ?

as this goes on - on the facts offered - I can see why she is in the slammer. No fun there in Egypt I can tell you
( no bamma-lamma in the slammer, ma'am)

I hope she returns a wiser woman - if not wiser then more careful
from the article I have no idea what DI Heaton means by a civil offence under the Medicines Act.

Jesus I would have thought it is obvious that if you are asked to explain drugs in your possession the first thing you do NOT say - "oh, dem, dey not mine - dey someone else's"

It strikes me as terminally stupid - altho not a crime may lead to a long spell in a foreign gaol
maybe just terminally innocent, PP? i know people find it hard to believe that a tourist would fail to memorise the laws of the countries she visited but ...
erm well she was taking in 300
max dose 3 per d - is three months supply.

and of course she wouldnt be taking it in if it were available in Egypt - virtually everything is purchasable at a price (clearly not opioids) w/o a prescription - Fluclox - one course is around £25 or 500 eg pounds. The chemists would fall over themselves to make a sale like that ( 1 1/2 months average wage) and of course for poor people they will suggest cheaper alternatives

and if she knew it wasnt available in Egypt then she must have a teentsy weentsy suspicion why ( wivva an Egyptian boy friend )

It is the husband who is waiting for her
and she has an Egyptian boy friend - greedy girl!
