Good evening all :-)

Hope you're all well...

I wonder if anyone can please help....perhaps Sqad, if you're around, dear sir, or anybody who recognises symptoms.....I've been getting a slight pain, in my jaw, just under my left earlobe and has a slight swelling when I touch it...slight left ear pain, but nothing too bad.(I'm almost sure I've had it before years ago and know my GP said it was something to do with glands or nodules?... I cant remember which).....do not want to bother my doctor if something trivial.....
(Probably doesn't help that I host a morning radio show, up to 6 days a week, for 3 hours a day, and have to chat a fair bit, between playing tunes.).....also wear headphones, when needed, not only for the shows, but when I do a gig too.

Any ideas, guys, and how can I treat it.. I do appreciate any advice given....thanks :-)

Sounds like a small gland fighting off infection. You say you have slight ear pain/ earache? I would take an anti inflammatory and keep an eye on it next couple of days..

Hi Patsy,

Yes, I've got a slight earache too....if I can only remember what my GP told me years ago.
Thanks for your advice....will leave it till after the weekend..probably take anti-inflammatory, as you mention.
Cold or warm flannel might help, but not sure.
Hope it improves soon yogi. Ear pain is miserable..
Question Author
Thanks, my lovely...appreciated :-) x
Not enough information.
This pain.....is that there all the time or is it associated with eating?
This slight selling....is it there all the time or does it appear when you eat?

Evening Sqad

Had dinner a couple of hours ago, so I may have aggravated it a little...can't tell with the swelling,as only noticed that this afternoon, but it appears to be a little down on from earlier on.
It is where you touch your ear lobe, then right in the corner, under on the jawbone, Sqad.

OK...then you have probably has a small infection of the skin or scalp that you have not noticed OR maybe acne of your face, which has flared up.....but whatever, it is no big deal and should settle within 10 days even without antibiotics.

Doing some jaw exercises opening and closing my mouth....will this help, do you think?
No ^^^
Just do what I have advised.
Question Author
Thanks Sqad for your valued advice..:-)..I never had acne as a teenager though....nodules or swollen glands are possibly what my GP said it was, but I'm talking over 10-12 years ago now.
Patsy has given you a good answer.....
Question Author
Will do, Sqad...can I take any paracetamol or ibuprofen if it niggles?
Yes.
Question Author
Thanks for your opinion again, Sqad.....you're always tops in my book ...if only we weren't married! :-)

Yes, I think Patsy was spot on too...(Thanks Patsy, if you look in again x)
;-)
To add to the splendid advice you have already been given, while it doesn't sound like sinusitis, in my long experience of having sinusitis, painful infecty stuff around the ear and jaw can often involve the sinuses....it might be worth trying a couple of shots of a decongestant spray or a dose of antihistamine to relieve any swelling and blockage and help to drain any lurking yuck.
Question Author
I remembered....it was a 'swollen lymph node or nodule'.....it was driving me nuts!

Question Author
Thanks Woofgang for your advice....have got some of that in the medicine cupboard, so will take that too.....really appreciate you taking the time to answer me....I wont forget it and many thanks again, Woofgang :-)
