I am diabetic , so every year I have to go to the next town, about 8 miles to have my eyes checked and also my feet.I have been this morning, got the eyes done, but feet is different now , they will send for me at their convenience, got home , to a letter on the mat from same hospital saying please make appointment to have your feet done ! So now I have to trek again to this hospital, more petrol , car park fees etc, honestly I am so annoyed I could spit, nobody to complain to, and I know it wont do any good, grrrrrr !

It’s a case of ‘If it isn’t broken why fix it’ Hope you get an appointment soon though and not too much faffing!

What a farce! They're in such a mess. Very frustrating but has to be done.
It's pot luck with the NHS.

I do a 12 mile round trip once a year for an Eye Test, I do the same trip but to a different Service Provider (so never gonna be on the same day) once a year to have my feet checked. I go to Central London once a year, 3½ - 4 hour round train trip for a general once-over, do I find it annoying, NO I don't, thanks to these check-ups I'm fit, reasonably healthy and lead a very active life for a 66 year old.
Long may it continue.
That's a lot of travelling Balders.Aren't there any hospitals nearer to you?
for thechiropidist i have to ring the hospital for foot appointment but get told to ring back next month ,did this only to be told no appointments ,ring next month ,so i gave up
That’s crazy! As a diabetic myself at my clinic you get it all done there and then.

I attend my eye screening twice a year as i suffer retinopathy and I have my feet checked each time I attend my podiatrist (I went private for that).

Sorry to hear you have so much travelling to do :(

Yes I am pleased to be able to have this done.. but I just wish they hadnt changed everything , it was fine the way it was.

I get my eyes tested at the local opticians and go to the GP surgery nurse for my feet check.
Isn't it the postal service who are at fault here rather than the NHS?

Hi Danny, the two 'Local' runs are not a problem, the London trip is to Guys, I had a Major Op. there in '09 and they like to check on me once a year, so far so good.
Next year will be 10 years and I will be with them for 2 days, they're thorough ;o)
Given that this is a recent change in how they treat you ,hopefully next time with a phone call or two you can get both appointments on the same day.

It's a lack of communication most often that causes annoyance.
